Built in the mid-18th century by the Carvalhos family, this stunning palace is decorated with several granite statues depicting the first kings of Portugal. Later, it belonged to the Jordão family, who completed the work begun by Tadeu Luis Antonio Lopes de Carvalho Fonseca in the 18th century.
The facade faces a stunning garden with three levels, decorated with fountains from the Baroque Period - a truly stunning example of the architecture of this period.
The Palace underwent a loving restoration in 2005 and a Cultural Center of the same name was also built on the site. Within the Cultural Center's two auditoriums, there are performances, art shows and conferences. It is one of the many locations within this UNESCO World Heritage city where art and culture are celebrated and enjoyed.

The Park dates back to the 18th century and is beautifully landscaped, with a succession of three levels connected by stairs. Here you can clearly see the influences of religious staircases in the civil architecture of Northern Portugal.
You will also find flower beds that are bordered by dwarf boxwood and planted with shrubs, such as rhododendrons and camellias. The garden is free and open to the public, available whenever you need to rest your weary feet or enjoy a moment of tranquility.
