Lagoa e Cascata da Portela do Homem, the popular name by which the Cascata de São Miguel is known and located near Portela do Homem, parish of Campo do Gerês, municipality of Terras de Bouro, is a succession of small waterfalls of the river Homem, near the border with Spain.
The trail to Cascata da Portela do Homem, which is approximately 2 km long, follows the famous "Geira Romana", an old Roman road that in other times crossed the Serra do Gerês and linked Braga to Astorga.
To get here, you must take the N308-1 road towards Portela do Homem parking lot, near the Spanish border. Upon arriving at your destination, the waterfall is located just 50 meters from the road. The first waterfalls and the famous well can be seen from the bridge over the Homem River.
