The Ethnographic Museum of Vilarinho da Furna shares its location with the Museum Centre of Campo do Gerês, and the Parque Nacional Peneda-Gerês as well.
This museum was opened in 1989 and was established so that the memories of the village of Vilarinho das Furnas could be remembered. This village was sunken after the construction of a dam in 1971 that left the entire location underwater.
