Porta do Mezio

The Porta do Mezio, located in the municipality of Arcos de Valdevez, is currently considered one of the five gates of the Peneda-Gerês National Park. As the gateway to the mountains and valleys of Soajo and Peneda, it was named a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.

As a result, the nature that fills this entire region has allowed the creation of waterfalls along its rocky valleys, with unique features, magnificent landscapes, and the existence of valuable fauna and flora. Here you can enjoy several exciting sights, such as the Biodiversity Park, the Rural and Ethnographic Museum, the Aldeia dos Pequeninos (Little Children's Village), the Interpretative Center of the Mezio-Gião Archaeological Area, and many other interesting sites.

Another feature that captivates nature lovers is the numerous trails that exist here, from which stand out the trails along the Cabrão river.
