The village of Vilarinho da Furna, also known as Vilarinho das Furnas, was a place that belonged to the parish of Campo do Gerês, in the municipality of Terras de Bouro, district of Braga.
In 1970, this village, still known for its "strong community spirit", was submerged by the waters of the Vilarinho das Furnas reservoir. Currently, several leisure activities are allowed in this reservoir, such as access to the picnic park, the river beach, and fishing (depending on the regulations in force).
In 1985 the Association of the Former Inhabitants of Vilarinho da Furna was created to preserve the cultural heritage, and in 1989 there was the opening of the Ethnographic Museum of Vilarinho da Furna.
To get here, you can travel by car or public transport available in Braga. Access to this village has an associated cost for financing and preservation of its heritage.
