This complex of chapels and churches is a lovely place to pause for thought, a restful haven on top of the mountain. At the highest point in Guimarães, you can enjoy views of the entire city and surroundings.
Within the park are boulders the size of houses to climb on, picnic tables for an alfresco lunch, caves to explore, and even a mini-golf course.
You can drive up to the peak or make your way up by cable car from Guimarães. It is well worth an hour or two to wander around and drink in the lovely views.
The park spans an area of around 50 hectares and features diverse flora and fauna as well as tiny chapels and shrines carved out of the rocks.
