The Citânia de Briteiros is an Iron Age hill town located just outside Guimarães. It predates the Romans and describes how long ago humans organised settlements on the Iberian Peninsula.
This fascinating historic location is essentially what remains of a prehistoric Celtic town, dating back to the second century BC. Over 1000 people lived here at one point and archeologists have only discovered a fraction of the treasures that lie beneath the soil.
